Base Protocol is a cryptocurrency project that created BASE, a synthetic asset built on the Ethereum blockchain whose price tracks the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies at a fixed ratio of 1:1 trillion (e.g., a $450B total crypto market cap implies a BASE price of about $0.45). The protocol uses an elastic supply mechanism, integrated with a Chainlink oracle for market cap data, that programmatically adjusts (rebases) the token supply to keep BASE's market price in line with this target equilibrium.
