Description

Celestia Mainnet operates a proof-of-stake blockchain implementing data availability sampling through erasure coding and namespaced Merkle trees, enabling light nodes to verify block data availability without downloading entire blocks. The network processes PayForBlobs transactions for rollups to publish data, with blocks initially sized between 2MB and 8MB, upgradeable through governance. Built on Cosmos SDK with modified Tendermint consensus, the system separates consensus and data availability from execution, allowing developers to deploy custom rollups using Celestia as the base layer.
