Description

Ceramic is a decentralized data network that provides verifiable and scalable data infrastructure for an ecosystem of interoperable applications and services. It utilizes an event streaming protocol to manage data across a network of databases, applications, and users, creating a shared data ledger. The protocol combines the scalability of event-driven architecture with the trust and composability of a blockchain, anchoring events into the Ethereum blockchain for immutable timestamps. This allows organizations to build applications with features like social interactions (chat, DMs, followers), reputation systems (attestations, credentials, KYC), verifiable activity logs, and decentralized collaboration tools. Ceramic nodes are lightweight, sync quickly, and do not require gas for write transactions, making the network fast and cost-effective.
