Climate Change Countdown was a project inspired by Beeple's Everydays and the Climate Clock, aiming to raise awareness about the Climate Emergency using the potential of Web3 and blockchains. From 01/19/2022 and for a planned 10 years, artists created and posted a daily digital artwork about Climate Change, published on artists' social media channels and supported by the Earth Based Network. The core of the project was periodic expeditions on the field to document causes and effects of Climate Change and positive examples of sustainability and activism, alongside a permanent Virtual Reality photo exhibition and NFT collections on Ethereum and Solana. Donations funded artist treasuries for basic and travel expenses, organization of online and IRL exhibitions, and the creation of an open source web3 library of climate art pieces. The project was founded by Marco (bear), a photographer and digital artist who founded the Earth Based Network in 2020 and conducted multiple geographic expeditions across Europe and Asia. The collective has since been archived and is no longer active.
