Description
ConsensusLab is a research group under Protocol Labs Research whose vision is to be the go-to place for scalable decentralized consensus research. It explores cutting-edge permissionless consensus protocols across three pillars—sharding, consensus proper, and scalable execution—working at the intersection of classical distributed computing/database problems (e.g., cross-shard transaction semantics, shard state management) and Web3-specific security challenges, including support for larger-scale general-purpose computation such as federated machine learning. Beyond research, the group aims to deliver practical impact to the Filecoin network and the wider Web3 ecosystem, publishing open specifications and code (e.g., hierarchical consensus work) on its GitHub organization, consensus-shipyard, and periodically hiring research scientists, research engineers, and startup operators through the Protocol Labs job board.
