Description

The Fabric Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to building the governance, economic, and coordination infrastructure that enables humans and intelligent machines to work together safely and productively. As AI systems gain the ability to reason, act, and operate in the physical world across manufacturing, healthcare, education, and daily life, the Foundation works to ensure they remain aligned with human values and accessible to all, without concentration of power or unequal access. The Foundation's activities include supporting critical research on human-machine alignment, interpretability, machine governance, and economic frameworks; building public-good infrastructure such as machine and human identity systems, decentralized task allocation and accountability, location-gated and human-gated payments, and machine-to-machine communication; convening policymakers, standards bodies, researchers, and industry leaders to shape governance guardrails; expanding global access and participation through tele-operations, education, and local customization of robotics models; promoting public understanding of AI and robotics; and ensuring long-term stewardship as a neutral, mission-driven institution. It is also associated with the Fabric Protocol and ROBO Governance initiatives.
