Description

Firo, formerly known as Zcoin since its launch in 2016, is a privacy-preserving cryptocurrency and ecosystem dedicated to advancing digital finance privacy. Its core technologies include Lelantus Spark for trustless, on-chain privacy with high anonymity sets, and Dandelion++ for network-layer privacy. To secure its network against 51% attacks and provide near-instant transaction finality, Firo employs a hybrid system of Proof-of-Work (FiroPoW) and LLMQ Chainlocks. The platform also introduces Spark Assets, which extend privacy features to tokenized assets, concealing the asset type being transferred. Firo is recognized for its significant independent research contributions to the blockchain space, having developed influential protocols like Zerocoin, Sigma, and Lelantus. The project has seen real-world application, notably facilitating the Thai Democrat Party's primary elections on its blockchain in 2018.
