Hats Protocol

Hats Protocol is an open-source, onchain protocol for programmable roles and permissions, helping DAOs and other organizations automate onboarding and manage access control across the tools and smart contracts they use.
Distributed

Description

Hats Protocol provides a full-stack, onchain solution for organizing decentralized organizations through programmable roles ('Hats'). It streamlines permission management and introduces accountability for contributors and councils by letting organizations automate the granting and revocation of roles and permissions based on requirements such as token holdings, elections, and agreements. The protocol is composable and interoperable with tools like Safe, Snapshot, Tally, Decent, and Unlock, and can be used across personal wallets, multisigs, smart contracts, and AI agents. Hats Protocol v1 is designed for developers, being open-source, well-documented, non-custodial, and non-upgradeable, allowing teams to build custom role-delegation logic and plug-and-play RBAC directly into their applications via Hats SDKs. It is trusted by over 50 top DAOs to help automate permissions and safely decentralize operations.
