Description

Hemi is a programmable Bitcoin chain designed to scale Bitcoin beyond its use as just money, enabling what it calls true BTCFi (Bitcoin Decentralized Finance). It utilizes a Proof-of-Proof (PoP) consensus mechanism to secure the network with Bitcoin's security. Hemi aims to bridge the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystems through its Hemi Virtual Machine (hVM), which is a full Bitcoin node wrapped inside an EVM. This allows for the development of Bitcoin-aware, EVM-compatible applications. Key features include superfinality for Bitcoin-level transaction finality, portability for moving assets between Bitcoin and Ethereum via Hemi Tunnels, and extensibility to incorporate Bitcoin's security into other blockchain networks. The platform supports various applications such as low-fee Bitcoin DeFi, Bitcoin-secured AI, non-custodial Bitcoin services, cross-chain exchanges, multi-chain DAOs, and Bitcoin-backed financial primitives.
