Description
KnownOrigin was a crypto-art platform founded in 2018 to explore using blockchain for digital artwork, ensuring proof of ownership, provenance, and authenticity. It began with a pop-up event in Manchester and evolved into a digital-first art marketplace. During the NFT boom of 2021, the platform saw a huge influx of activity, with creators monetizing their work for a global audience. In 2022, it continued to innovate with features like early access sales and creator contracts. However, by 2023, the team decided to pivot to other Web3 initiatives, leading to the difficult decision to shut down the KnownOrigin marketplace, concluding six years of onchain digital art history. All NFTs minted on the platform remain safe and accessible on the blockchain.
