Mina Foundation

Mina Protocol is a lightweight blockchain designed for scalability and decentralization, maintaining a constant size of about 22kb through the use of zero-knowledge proofs. It enables developers to build privacy-preserving applications (zkApps) and fosters a community-driven ecosystem through various grant and delegation programs.

Description

Mina is a layer one protocol and ZK blockchain designed to deliver on the original promise of blockchain—true decentralization, scale, and security. By using advanced cryptography and recursive zk-SNARKs, Mina maintains a constant, small size of approximately 22kb, referred to as a 'succinct blockchain.' This allows participants to quickly sync and verify the network from any device with full-node security, lowering the barrier to participation. The protocol supports off-chain computation with on-chain verification, enhancing scalability and reducing fees. Developers can build privacy-preserving smart contracts (zkApps) using TypeScript, which allows applications to interact with real-world data while keeping user information private on their local devices. The project's mission is to create a vibrant, decentralized network and an open, programmable currency, supported by a community actively involved through various grant programs like Navigators, zkIgnite, and Core Grants.
