Near Social

Near Social is a decentralized, open social platform built on the NEAR blockchain. It lets users create on-chain profiles, publish and fork "widgets" (small React-like apps), and interact with a wide ecosystem of community-built applications, including DAO treasury dashboards and governance tools. It serves NEAR ecosystem developers, DAOs, and community members who build and consume on-chain social content.

Near Social operates a decentralized social protocol and application platform on the NEAR blockchain. Its core product is near.social, a website and open editor where anyone can create a profile, write and fork "widgets" (composable front-end components stored on-chain via the Social DB), and publish them for others to use. The platform hosts thousands of community profiles (over 22,000 at time of review) and numerous applications built by third parties, including DAO treasury management widgets (e.g., Sputnik DAO dashboards) and governance tools, illustrating its role as shared social/application infrastructure for the NEAR ecosystem. Near Social provides documentation for widget development and maintains an open-source presence on GitHub, along with Telegram and Twitter/X channels for community engagement. Its typical users are NEAR ecosystem builders, DAOs, and community members rather than traditional enterprise clients.
