OpenData Community
The OpenData Community is an open source DAO, home of the Regen Rangers, that emerged from Gitcoin in Fall 2022. It builds algorithms and software to fight Sybil attacks, wash trading, airdrop farming and other fraud, while advocating for decentralized technologies at the data layer of web3.

Description
The OpenData Community, home of the Regen Rangers, is an open source DAO that grew out of Gitcoin in the Fall of 2022, building on experience defending public goods funding rounds. The organization develops algorithms and other open source software to detect and prevent Sybil attacks, wash trading, airdrop farming and other forms of fraud, while advocating for the use of decentralized technologies at the data layer of web3. Its community, the Regen Rangers, is inspired by the Black Rock Rangers of Burning Man and is made up of contributors who commit to using data science and software for good, earning status by contributing open source tools and helping web3 communities detect fraud and decentralize their data stacks. Members take a 'Regen Ranger Oath' and receive benefits such as roles as hackathon judges, access to tooling and infrastructure, full governance voting weight, community feedback via PRs and Discord, potential professional service opportunities, and rank badges. The community serves web3 projects, hackathons and public goods funding platforms seeking to identify fraud and decentralize data practices.Grant Funding
