Polygon Miden

Polygon Miden

Miden, a project by Polygon, is a STARK-based, zero-knowledge virtual machine (VM) and rollup for Ethereum. It aims to enhance scalability and privacy for decentralized applications by moving transaction execution and state management to the client's device. This 'edge blockchain' approach allows for both public and private transactions, enabling high-throughput applications in sectors like DeFi, digital assets, and gaming, all secured by Ethereum. The project has an active Alpha Testnet for builders to experiment with.

Description

Polygon Miden is a rollup designed for high-throughput, private applications, allowing developers to build for payments, DeFi, digital assets, and gaming, with security from Ethereum and AggLayer. By pushing execution and state to the client side, Miden overcomes the scalability and privacy limitations of traditional blockchains. It features client-side proving, where users execute and prove their own transactions, and self-custodied state control, giving users full control over their data. The platform supports private and public accounts, local transaction execution, and delegated proving. It offers safe smart contract development with Rust and built-in account abstraction. The project is actively developed, with an Alpha Testnet available for builders to experiment with tools like the Midenscan block explorer, a token faucet, and a wallet demonstrating its capabilities.
