Radicle

Radicle

Radicle is an open source, peer-to-peer code collaboration stack built on Git. Unlike centralized code hosting platforms, there is no single entity controlling the network. Repositories are replicated across peers in a decentralized manner, and users are in full control of their data and workflow.

Description

Radicle is an open source, peer-to-peer code collaboration stack built on Git, designed as a decentralized alternative to platforms like GitHub. It ensures users have full control over their data and workflow by replicating repositories across a network of peers, eliminating reliance on a single central entity. The protocol leverages cryptographic identities, a custom gossip protocol, and stores social artifacts like issues and code reviews directly within Git as signed objects. This local-first approach allows for offline functionality. The network's resilience is maintained by seed nodes that ensure data availability. While the Radicle protocol itself is blockchain-agnostic, the project is supported and funded by Radworks, an organization governed by the $RAD token on Ethereum.
