ReFi Medellín is the first Colombian Local Node of ReFiDAO, focused on promoting regenerative projects and their transformative impact in Medellín, Colombia. The organization is committed to empowering the youth of Medellín to tackle pressing challenges such as poverty, inequality, youth unemployment, and limited access to resources like energy, water, sanitation, housing, and education. Its activities include hosting community events and workshops featuring ReFi, Web3, and urban-challenge experts, organizing ReFi hackathons to engage young developers, universities, and private-sector organizations, and incubating and investing in Regeneration-Oriented Innovations (ROIs) and Web3 social enterprises that emerge from these hackathons. The group also supports impact onboarding for ecological activities such as tree planting and cleanup efforts, including initiatives to help preserve Medellín's identity as the 'City of Eternal Spring'. ReFi Medellín holds at least 30% of its treasury in Glo Dollars, having swapped part of its treasury as the first RefiDAO local node to do so, and accepts donations via Ethereum and Giveth.io. It partners with allied projects such as Green Digital Guardians and DotLabs for educational and ecological collaboration.
