Saito is a Layer 1 blockchain platform designed to solve fundamental economic and computer science issues found in other blockchains like Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake. Its core innovation is the Saito Consensus, a new mechanism that rewards nodes for providing data access and routing transactions through a "Routing Work" system, rather than for mining or staking. This incentivizes the creation of a self-sustaining, open network infrastructure, eliminating the need for third-party providers and addressing problems like blockchain bloat and free-riding. Saito enables the development of truly decentralized applications (dApps) that run directly in the user's browser and communicate peer-to-peer.
