SANE Foundation

SANE Foundation is building a global network of resilient bioregions by combining Web3 infrastructure with regenerative approaches to Nature, Culture and Economy. It pilots bioregional-scale solutions—including regenerative economic zones, a blockchain-based token, and a mutual credit system—in partnership with local and indigenous communities across bioregions such as the Amazon Rainforest, the Ecuadorian Andes, and BC's Inland Temperate Rainforest.

Description

SANE Foundation works to build a network of resilient bioregions grounded in the pillars of Nature, Culture and Economy, blending Web3 infrastructure with the 'Web of Life.' On the Economy pillar, it is designing Regenerative Economic Zones, launching a blockchain-based token to fuel bioregional resiliency, and developing a bioregional Mutual Credit System to help communities decentralize their economies. On the Culture pillar, it creates EcoVillage Sanctuaries for education and wellness, engages multi-stakeholder collaboration, and supports community networking through a decentralized messenger app. On the Nature pillar, it implements regenerative ecosystem-based approaches, strengthens climate resilience through local adaptation strategies, and identifies landscape-level restoration initiatives. The organization is currently active in several bioregions: a two-million-acre pilot in the Amazon Rainforest partnering with Shuar community leaders to build a regenerative economy on Shuar territory; 70 stewarded acres in the Ecuadorian Andes featuring two ecovillages, a retreat centre, permaculture gardens, and youth programs; and over 35,500 acres in British Columbia's Inland Temperate Rainforest, where it works on agroforestry, village design, watershed restoration, soil rehabilitation, climate adaptation, and wildfire mitigation. It partners with a network of aligned organizations worldwide to advance these regenerative, bioregional initiatives.
