Description
Signum is an open blockchain protocol and development toolset for Web 3.0 applications, positioned as a sustainable alternative to energy-intensive chains like Bitcoin. Its core innovation is Proof-of-Commitment (PoC+), a consensus mechanism evolved from Proof of Capacity that lets miners use ordinary consumer-grade hard disk space (plus an optional SIGNA stake commitment) instead of specialized power-hungry hardware, using a claimed 0.001-0.002% of the energy consumed by Proof-of-Work chains. The network supports fast, low-fee payments with encrypted messaging and multi-out transfers, no-code Smart Token creation with liquidity/staking pools (via SignumSwap), and self-executing, Turing-complete smart contracts (Automated Transactions) usable for applications such as lotteries and DeFi. The ecosystem includes multiple wallets (the official Signum Mobile Wallet, the XT Wallet browser extension, the community-built Phoenix Wallet, and the all-in-one BTDEX app with integrated DEX and mining tools), a block explorer, developer documentation and APIs, and SignaAI, an AI-agent accountability layer built on Signum for payments, identity, verification, and escrow between autonomous agents. Signum serves home miners and node operators, developers building dApps and tokens, and everyday users transacting SIGNA, with governance and community support from the Signum Network Association (SNA).
