Tari is an open-source, decentralized blockchain protocol designed to reimagine how digital assets like tickets, loyalty points, in-game items, and other crypto-native assets are managed, used, and transferred. The protocol allows creators and businesses to program complex rules for digital assets and leverages scalability technologies such as payment channels and transaction cut-through to enable near-instant, high-throughput peer-to-peer transfers. Security is intended to be powered by proof-of-work mining open to anyone. Tari Labs, LLC is the software development company (based in Oakland, California and Johannesburg, South Africa) that carries out cryptography and cryptocurrency research (via Tari Labs University) and actively contributes to the Tari Project, alongside other open-source projects such as Monero, Rust Lightning, and the Tower project, though it does not own or control the Tari project itself, which is intended to be community-driven.
