Tellor

Tellor

Tellor is a decentralized oracle protocol that provides secure, verifiable, and censorship-resistant data for smart contracts and decentralized applications. It functions as a source of truth by incentivizing a permissionless network of reporters with its native token, TRB, to provide any requested off-chain data. The protocol is designed to be flexible and serves various on-chain needs, particularly for DeFi and long-tail asset price feeds.

Description

Tellor is a decentralized oracle protocol that provides secure and censorship-resistant off-chain data for smart contracts. Unlike traditional oracles that act as middleware for centralized APIs, Tellor functions as a direct source of truth, generating data through a permissionless network of reporters. Anyone can participate as a validator, reporter, or user. The protocol is secured by crypto-economic incentives using its native token, TRB (Tellor Tributes), which is used for staking, rewards, a dispute mechanism, and governance. Users can request custom data points, and reporters compete to add this value to an on-chain data bank. Tellor also maintains a set of popular data feeds called 'Enshrined Feeds' for essential data. The protocol supports various applications, including querying off-chain data, performing off-chain computations, and relaying messages between blockchains, primarily serving the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector.
