Tokenised GBP (tGBP) is a GBP-denominated stablecoin where each token is backed 1:1 by cash and short-term UK gilts held in institutional custody in the UK. Eligible businesses can mint tGBP by transferring GBP via Faster Payments or CHAPS, with tokens issued to a wallet on the blockchain of choice. tGBP can be used in DeFi protocols, transferred globally, or redeemed back to GBP, and is listed on major cryptocurrency exchanges.
