TrueBlocks

TrueBlocks is an open-source software project that lets crypto users see complete on-chain transaction histories, wallet balances, and contract states locally, without relying on third-party API providers. Its core innovation is the Unchained Index, a decentralized, shareable index of blockchain data that runs on the user's own machine.

Description

TrueBlocks provides tools (centered on the 'chifra' command-line tool) that allow anyone to list transactions, query events, and call contracts across any EVM-based chain, with data indexed and cached locally for privacy and speed. The backbone of the project is the Unchained Index, a decentralized public good built on lightweight Bloom filters that dramatically reduce on-disk data size while allowing users to share and benefit from shared index chunks. TrueBlocks offers features such as automatic articulation of raw hex data into human-readable values using smart contract ABIs, block expressions for querying by date instead of block number, an ENS names database, Solidity-like syntax for calling smart contracts, and a locally running API server with TypeScript and Python SDKs. It serves individual crypto users, developers, and anyone needing deep on-chain historical data without paid plans or rate limits, positioning itself as a free, open-source public good supported by grants.
