UTEC supports entrepreneurs with visions to expand into global, cross-border markets, acting mainly as a lead investor that provides hands-on support, including sending board members to portfolio companies. With its latest fund, UTEC 6 Limited Partnership, established in 2025 with a commitment of over JPY 43 billion, UTEC has managed five funds totaling near JPY 130 billion. Across its five previous funds it has invested in over 160 start-ups, of which 20 have gone public and 22 have achieved other substantial exits, mainly through M&As.
