Description
The Diode CLI is an open-source command-line tool that makes IT, OT, and IoT assets globally accessible while securing them with 256-bit end-to-end encryption. It requires no managed VPN server infrastructure, uses fewer resources than a traditional VPN, and brings the Diode Network's zero trust architecture to edge devices. Every Diode CLI client has a globally unique identifier used for security and routing, allowing a device to become globally accessible while remaining more secure than on a local network. The CLI is used to publish and manage resources such as SSH access, IoT/OT data feeds, websites, and server administration interfaces, isolating the rest of the system and reducing IT maintenance burden. Resources can be published in private, protected, or public mode, with protected mode creating an ad hoc zero trust perimeter for group-level access management. It is one of several Diode products (alongside Diode Collab, Diode Vault, and the Diode Network) aimed at IT, OT, and DevOps teams needing secure, decentralized alternatives to VPNs.
