Foundation Labs built Foundation as a non-custodial, onchain system for NFT ownership and listings. In April 2026, it announced that a planned sale had not completed and that it would not resume platform operations because the team was no longer in place and it could not responsibly support the service. Foundation’s smart contracts remain onchain, while the organization will maintain its IPFS gateway through April 27, 2027 and provide technical guidance to developers building against its contracts and infrastructure.
