Hesafin is a mobile application developed by BX Smart Labs in collaboration with UNICEF Burundi that modernizes how community savings groups (VICOBA/VSLA) operate in Burundi. It replaces traditional paper-based group savings management with a secure, blockchain-enabled digital solution, empowering solidarity groups to manage their financial activities through a single smartphone operated by a designated council member. By leveraging blockchain technology, the application ensures data reliability and creates verifiable, immutable financial histories for both individual members and groups. Hesafin bridges the gap between informal savings groups and formal financial institutions, allowing members and groups to use their blockchain-verified transaction history as credit history when seeking larger loans, thereby creating a pathway for financial inclusion and economic empowerment for communities.
