Idena is an open-source, community-run Proof-of-Person blockchain project started in October 2018 by an anonymous group of engineers and computer scientists. Its core innovation is a decentralized, privacy-preserving identity layer: participants prove they are unique humans (not bots or duplicate accounts) by synchronously solving AI-resistant FLIP-puzzle Turing tests during periodic validation ceremonies, without disclosing personal data. Validated identities can mine iDNA coins, stake IDNA for identity-staking rewards (which favor small individual stakers over large pools to resist plutocracy), send invitations, create flips, and participate in governance/oracle voting. Idena also provides identity-staking primitives for IRC20 tokens, enabling other DApps and DAOs to build plutocracy-resistant, token-backed identity systems, and offers infrastructure such as a block explorer (scan.idena.io), a cross-chain bridge for wrapped iDNA, an indexer API, node RPC, and an AI-resistance testing tool (ai.idena.io). Its clients/users are individual node operators and miners, developers building identity-aware smart contracts and DApps, and Web3 projects seeking Sybil-resistant, proof-of-personhood infrastructure (e.g., Gitcoin's Sybil resistance integration).
