Neptune Mutual is a parametric insurance protocol for Ethereum, allowing users to get coverage with immediate stablecoin payouts after a successful incident resolution, without requiring personal information. As of June 2024, Neptune Mutual announced the closure of its cover marketplaces due to factors like failing to meet performance metrics for CEX listings and slow growth in the DeFi insurance sector. As part of the shutdown, liquidity will be returned to LPs, refunds issued to policyholders, and unused funds returned to backers. The protocol's code will be open-sourced to become a public good, allowing the community to fork it and continue its development.
