Opera is Fantom’s smart-contract platform. It reports throughput above 2,000 transactions per second and one-second finality, and uses flat storage with live pruning for efficient data storage. Its technology stack includes a virtual machine that converts EVM bytecode, asynchronous Byzantine fault-tolerant DAG-based consensus, and database storage designed to simplify data retrieval and reduce storage requirements.
