Description
SagaChain is a single-layer, layer-1 blockchain rebuilt from the ground up to address scalability and rigidity issues in other blockchains. It runs on SagaOS, an object-oriented network operating system installed on every node, and applications are developed using SagaPython, a modified version of Python. The network uses a hybrid Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake consensus model, encrypts stored data, and supports enclaves for sensitive data protection. Transactions execute in parallel across shards for near-instant verification, and throughput scales as network resources grow. A core innovation, Smart Assets, places code, assets, execution, and settlement directly on-chain, replacing traditional smart contracts. The network is fueled by SagaCoin, the utility token used to pay for transactions and sustain node operators, validators, miners, and end users. SagaChain is being developed as an available-source project by PraSaga, with a public development testnet launched (as of May 2025) and a MainNet planned, relying on community developers ahead of full launch.
