StakeHound SA is a Swiss company that provided a service and platform for users to stake crypto tokens. The company collected personal data to comply with "Know Your Customer" (KYC), FADP, and GDPR regulations. On June 22, 2021, StakeHound announced that its custody provider, Fireblocks, had allegedly lost the cryptographic keys for 38,178 of its staked Ethereum. This was attributed to errors in key generation and backup procedures. Following this incident, StakeHound initiated legal proceedings against Fireblocks and has since focused its efforts on the recovery of the lost assets, ceasing its main liquid staking operations.
