Monacoin Project
Monacoin Project maintains Monacoin, the first alternative cryptocurrency developed in Japan (conceived December 2013), based on the ASCII-art character Mona. It is a fully distributed, community-driven payment system without a central controlling entity, used by an enthusiastic Japanese user base for tipping ("monage"), Mona-based web apps, and other grassroots use cases rather than by a formal core development team.
