Its ultimate goal is to minimize its own scope and footprint by devolving functions and resources to the ecosystem and supporting the development of self-sufficient decentralized infrastructure. The foundation supports the NEAR Protocol, a platform that helps users overcome barriers in the Web3 space like complicated UX and high scaling costs. In 2023, NEAR launched the Blockchain Operating System (BOS), a secure, transparent, and accessible open-source alternative to major tech platforms.
