Description
SagaChain is a single-layer, layer-1 blockchain rebuilt from the ground up to address scalability and rigidity issues in other blockchains. It runs on SagaOS, an object-oriented network operating system installed on every node, and applications are developed using SagaPython, a modified version of Python. The network uses a hybrid Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake consensus model, encrypts stored data, and supports enclaves for sensitive data protection. Transactions execute in parallel across shards for near-instant verification, and throughput scales as network resources grow. A core innovation, Smart Assets, places code, assets, execution, and settlement directly on-chain, replacing traditional smart contracts. The network is fueled by SagaCoin, the utility token used to pay for transactions and sustain node operators, validators, miners, and end users. SagaPython is the development language that allows applications to talk to SagaOS, PraSaga's node operating system, making it possible to build applications on the SagaChain blockchain. Because it is based on Python, one of the world's most widely used programming languages, SagaPython gives project leads access to a large pool of existing developer talent and resources, and allows new applications to integrate with architecture that is already underway rather than starting development over. PraSaga has publicly released alpha code (running on a standard database) so developers can begin building applications ahead of a forthcoming TestNet, at which point the alpha database will be replaced with a fully functioning copy of SagaChain, with access initially restricted to the most promising projects and partnerships. SagaCoin™ is the native cryptocurrency used to power transactions across SagaChain™, PraSaga's layer-1 blockchain. Its supply is governed by the "SagaCoin™ Management Model" (tokenomics), an algorithm designed to dynamically adjust coin supply in response to transaction demand, with the stated goal of first increasing and then stabilizing SagaCoin's Purchasing Power (PP) — i.e., how many bundles of goods one SagaCoin can buy. Purchasing power is measured by deflating the dollar price using a combination of dollar price indices (CPI, GDP deflator, PCE). The model describes phased stages, including an appreciation phase (e.g., an illustrative example where 400 SagaCoin for a gallon of milk today could become 2 SagaCoin after ~200x appreciation) and a mature "flattened" stage where a basket of goods costs a stable number of SagaCoin despite ongoing dollar inflation.
